Professional Qualifications & Experience

I am a fully qualified Counsellor with the following qualifications:

  • BA (Hons) in Counselling
  • Foundation Degree in The Theory & Practice of Counselling
  • University Foundation Award in Counselling Skills
  • Weight Management Level 4 Certificate
  • NCFE Level 2 in Understanding Nutrition and Health
  • Diploma in Working with Children and Adolescents
  • Safeguarding Children Level 2 Intermediate
  • Registered Member MBACP.

My counselling training involved four years of extensive University Degree training.  Part of this training required me undertake two counselling placements; one within a Drug and Alcohol Addiction Service and the other at the Probation Service.  Both of these services offered me the opportunity to be presented and work with a wide variety of issues and problems that required my assistance.  During this work I discovered that working with anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, motivation and eating disorders to be of particular interest; this interest being driven from both close-hand  personal experience as well as professional experiences.

In addition, I have experience of providing both one-to-one personal therapy, as well as group therapy, which was the principal advantage of undertaking two separate placements, rather than just the required one.

The above qualifications enable ethical working within my private counselling practice.  My private practice is an established business within the Scarborough, North Yorkshire area.
